A Letter from the Chapter President

Updated: Aug 26

What an incredible two years it’s been. This July marks the end of my term as Chapter President, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks for allowing me to serve in this role. ILEA has always been a bright spot for me, a place of celebration, connection, innovation, and collaboration. This community is uniquely us, unifying and gathering in a celebratory, inspirational, and supportive way.

Through ILEA, I've gained deeper self-awareness by better understanding my strengths, weaknesses, values, and leadership styles. I've become more comfortable with delegation and adaptability. ILEA has been my sandbox, allowing me to develop these skills and create connections that transcend the 9-5.

I encourage everyone to get involved—join a committee, sponsor a program, or volunteer on the board.  I cannot say this loudly enough, you get what you put into it!

Reflecting on the past two years, I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to mention a few highlights:

  • In 2023, ILEA-MSP won five Spirit of Excellence Awards, including Chapter of the Year.

  • In 2024, we celebrated the 20th Annual MN Star Awards with record-breaking attendance and sponsor/vendor participation.

  • We've consistently maintained a membership base of 70+ individuals.

  • We awarded two individual membership scholarships through our DEI initiatives.

  • ILEA Midwest won Region of the Year in 2023.

  • Five members attended the ILEA Midwest Retreat in 2024, and four in 2023.

  • Four members flew to San Antonio for ILEA Ignite in 2023.

  • Literally so many more, I could keep you all day listing highlights

As we look forward to the 24/25 ILEA season, July is a time of transition for our Board of Directors. This includes role changes, welcoming new members, and setting goals for the year ahead. I am thrilled to pass the baton of Chapter President to the charismatic and effortlessly engaging Kim Fischer. Cheers to you, my friend—I’m excited to see what you achieve!

Lastly, thank you to the Board of Directors for allowing me to lead in my way, and thank you to our members and non-members for creating the community I love.

Peace, love and don't forget your sunscreen,
