What’s a Synonym for ‘Pivot’: This Event is Not About COVID

When:  May 18, 2021 from 09:00 AM to 03:30 PM (CST)
Associated with  Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter

After a year focused on restrictions, many of us are ready to return to the joyful elements of this industry. This Day of Education will help us cultivate the five senses of an event pro: Resilience, Design, Trends, Values and Creativity. We’ll start our day with the topic of resilience. Then we’ll dive into design and technology trends, followed by an exploration of how our values shape our personal and professional lives. Throughout the day we’ll have hands-on creative opportunities to flex your design muscles and engage your senses. And we’ll also have complimentary professional headshots courtesy of Lauren B Photography. We'll conclude the day with an effervescent wine class provided by Thao Moore with Green Mangos Catering.

Built to Last: Cultivating Resiliency When We Need It Most
Nancy Lyons: CEO, author, and speaker

As event professionals, we are resilient. It either came naturally to us, or we built it up through all our business ups and downs. Now is that time that we need that resiliency more than ever. And we need to lead with and share that energy with our staff, who might not be as survival-minded as ourselves. In this talk, Nancy will share a handful of methods she uses to foster a resilient mindset with staff to combat the anxiety and uncertainty we all felt.

Design and Décor Trends for 2021 and Beyond
Brittany Morris, owner, planner and designer of Bella Mystique

What did we miss while we were away? Brittany will take us through the design and decor trends so that our toolkits are ready for when we begin hosting events.

Technology Trends for 2021 and Beyond
Dustin Fabian, controller, account manager, producer of Heroic Productions

What’s the next big thing in technology? Dustin will take us through the event technology trends you can expect to see this year and beyond.

Uncovering Your Values to Build Awareness Toward a More Fulfilled Life
Jessica Horton, Life Coach Practitioner, Jessica Horton Coaching and Consulting

Have you ever wondered where your values come from? These have been our guiding principles since we were young. Which values still resonate with you? Which ones have you held onto that may no longer be serving you? Which ones do you want to carry forward or continue to develop?

By uncovering our values and beliefs, it allows us to shift our minds into a higher awareness of self to help us understand how we respond to the world around us. Next, we will explore how those values shape our lives through the decisions we make or don’t make and the impact it has both professionally and personally.
When you look at life from a holistic viewpoint, you can see which areas are working and you want to enhance, and which areas may need more attention. Using all this information, we will begin to define a path forward. You are in control of your life.
